How To Add M3U into IPTV for Various Devices
The internet is a magical place. It has shifted the manner in which we consume different media. No longer are we restricted to watching our favorite shows or listening to our favourite music on traditional channels such as television and the radio. For that reason, we now stream our favorite TV shows, movies or favorite songs via on demand.
What is IPTV?
Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) is a service that delivers television programming and other video content through a network. Unlike traditional television programming, IPTV provides the ability to continuously stream source media through an internet connection. Furthermore, it is way more efficient than other traditional media.
IPTV is typically delivered and distributed by a service provider, which delivers three classifications of services:
- Live Television — allows users to watch live television transmissions with minimal latency without being just like traditional TV broadcasts.
- Time-Shifted Media — also known as digital video recordings. This allows users to enjoy broadcast television on a time-delay using digital recordings of television shows without DVR devices. Which means it allows users to watch and re-watch replays of their favorite shows or live events from an interactive menu.
- Video-On-Demand — users are able to choose videos of their favorite shows from a catalog and can watch them as many times as they want.
IPTV content is delivered over the public internet or over managed networks. A private IPTV network allows the network operators to control video traffic, and ensure quality and reliability of service. Hence, IPTV sends one program at a time. This is in contrast to traditional television programming, which broadcasts content simultaneously over various channels. One can use a computer with an ordinary web browser, a video playing app, smartphone through an IPTV app, or a set-top box with any digital TV to watch IPTV streams.
What is an M3U File?
M3U is a computer file format for a multimedia playlist. One common use of the M3U file format is creating a single-entry playlist file pointing to a stream on the Internet. The file provides easy access to IPTV streams. It is often used in downloads from a website, for emailing, and for listening to Internet radio. Therefore, many media players and software applications support the M3U format now.
