What Is a VPN?
In very simple terms, a VPN connects your PC, smartphone, or tablet to another computer (called a server) somewhere on the internet, and allows you to browse the internet using that computer’s internet connection. So if that server is in a different country, it will appear as if you are coming from that country, and you can potentially access things that you couldn’t normally.
You can use a VPN to:
- Bypass geographic restrictions on websites or streaming audio and video.
- Watch streaming media like Netflix and Hulu or IPTV streams.
- Protect yourself from snooping on untrustworthy Wi-Fi hotspots.
- Gain at least some anonymity online by hiding your true location.
- Protect yourself from being logged while Internet surfing.
The vast majority of people these days are using VPN with IPTV streaming or bypassing geographic restrictions to watch content in a different country. They are still very useful for protecting yourself while working at a coffee shop, but that’s hardly the primary use anymore.
VPN with IPTV Streaming, Does It Help? YES IT DOES!
At DojimeIPTV.Net, our official stand on VPNs is that we can support it with our video streaming servers. Thus, we will share common knowledge from our network of users who have tried and tested certain VPN solutions on our streaming services, and we will put the shared information below.
Blog Update: As of 15th Nov 2019, due to increasing ISP blocking of iptv streamings, VPNs are now fully supported on our platform. The list of supported VPNs are provided below. Now more than ever, users need to deploy VPNs to properly protect their streaming activities from prying eyes and their own Internet telco providers .
Sometimes when your VPN were to suddenly not seem to work like normal, do try to switch the location servers. Keep in mind not to try too many servers in a very short time; otherwise the system will suspended your line and you’ll have to ask the admins to lift the ban.
Latest Update: We now have a free VPN solution made available to all existing users – please go to the Add-Ons section of your dashboard login account panel to download the VPN and profiles!
So, it is strongly recommended to ALWAYS test the VPN ‘static IP’ implementation with a trial IPTV account FIRST before commit to subscribing for a VPN with IPTV streaming account.
Here are the list of VPNs that our users have tried via ‘trial-and-error’ with our IPTV streaming services, not in order of merit:
a) NordVPN https://nordvpn.com – with a dedicated IP address (not applicable for Asian region).
b) TorGuard https://torguard.net – with a dedicated IP address from Germany or UK.
c) ExpressVPN https://www.expressvpn.com – set location servers to UK, UK Docklands, UK – Wembley (all tested for performances on UK streams). Get 30 days FREE Trial from our url link!
d) Perfect Privacy https://www.perfect-privacy.com
e) SurfShark https://surfshark.com – (not applicable for Asian region).
f) VyprVPN https://vyprvpn.com – we have not tested this yet, but the brochure writeup is really impressive, especially about the VPN for android-based Smart TVs, certainly worth a look.
In our opinion, we found ExpressVPN to be THE BEST in terms of speed, performance, security and usage. It is also the most reliable to work anywhere, even within China. Though it is not cheap, but it is definitely worth every single penny.
VPN Speed Tips
Use a Tier-1 VPN service – A Tier 1 communications service can reach any other address on the Internet without having to transit or make unnecessary stops on its path. Some VPN providers don’t own their own network of computers (Tier-2), which slows your Internet down.
Check Internet speed before and after connecting. You think the VPN is slowing your connection down, but it could be your Internet connection.
Change your VPN Server. Different VPN servers will affect your Internet speed depending on location, amount of traffic through it, time of day, and other factors.
Try SpeedTest on different server locations. Some VPN providers also have a “Quick Connect” option which automatically calculates your fastest VPN server.
Ensure your connection is using hard-wired Ethernet. Wi-fi introduces latency into your connection. Make sure your Kodi Box, computer, or TV device is using hard-wired Ethernet and watch your download speed increase.
Turn off local firewall. Try turning off local firewall and anti-virus and see if your speeds increase. Firewalls filter traffic, including VPNs, and may slow down your Internet speed.
Restart your router and device – If all else fails, restart your router and device and try your VPN with a fresh new connection.
